Psychiatric-Mental Health Chapter
The Psychiatric-Mental Health Chapter has established several goals for 2018. Among these are to offer a continuing education workshop on current topics of interest to psychiatric-mental health nurses, including content suitable for NP re-certification. The Chapter also plans to offer continuing education opportunities during the SCNA Convention in October.
Another goal is to expand networking opportunities for psychiatric-mental health nurses. As a small nursing specialty, PMH nurses are often lacking a large peer group in their place of employment or in their geographic area. We believe that there is great value in having a network of other nurses who share your concerns and face the same challenges you face. By getting to know other nurses in our specialty, there is the opportunity to share ideas, resources and experience with each other.
Through SCNA, the Chapter also advocates for issues of concern related to mental health and nursing practice on both the state and national level.
