Whether you are a graduating
nurse, a newcomer to our state,
a nurse with experience, or
simply returning to the
profession, we welcome you to
nursing with a purpose in South
Carolina.
Since 1907,
South Carolina Nurses
Association members have
effectively influenced health
care policy and practice.
And today, no other agency is
better prepared than the South
Carolina Nurses
Association to insist on and
facilitate the changes needed to
ensure quality health care in
our state. SCNA sets
requirements to enter the
profession, establishes,
monitors and enforces standards
of nursing practice, and assures
that nurses practice safely,
ethically and competently
through initial and continuing
registration.
To help nurses carry out this
mandate of public protection,
SCNA provides a full range of
activities to promote good
practice, prevent poor practice
and intervene when practice is
unacceptable.

The mission of the South Carolina Nurses
Association (SCNA) is to
represent all South Carolina
registered nurses in a
membership organization to
promote and advocate the role of
the nurse.
